Step 1
Measure the inside cavity in centimetres, millimetres or inches. Use the actual intended fill depth.
Calculate rectangular or cylindrical mold cavity volume using inside dimensions, quantity and your chosen extra allowance.
Amount including extra
Use the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact product. This calculator does not recommend a formulation, cure schedule, pouring depth or chemical handling procedure.
Rectangle: V = length × width × depth. Cylinder: V = π × (diameter ÷ 2)² × depth. Total = one cavity × count × (1 + allowance ÷ 100).
Worked example
A 10 × 8 × 2 cm cavity has 160 mL of geometric volume. Three cavities need 480 mL. With a user-selected 5% allowance, the plan is 504 mL.
Measure the inside cavity in centimetres, millimetres or inches. Use the actual intended fill depth.
Choose a rectangle or circular cylinder, then enter how many identical cavities you will fill.
Add your own allowance if required. Review the net volume and extra volume separately.
No. The model assumes an empty straight-sided cavity. Embedded objects, irregular surfaces and sloping walls require a separately measured displacement or capacity.
No. It increases the planned combined volume only. The A:B ratio and whether it is by mass or volume still come from the product instructions.
Convert volume to mass, or mass to volume, using the density you enter from the matching product data.
